Universitas Sriwijaya (Unsri) and PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BSI) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) on Tuition Fee Payment Service through Host-to-Host BSI Facility and Institutional Payment Service (BPI). It was signed by Prof. Dr. Ir. Muhammad Said, M.Sc. as the Vice Rector for Planning and Cooperation Affairs of Unsri and Kokok Alun Akbar as Director of Retail Banking of BSI, located in Meeting Room 1 KPA Unsri Bukit Besar Palembang on Thursday, 17 March 2022.
The Retail Banking Director of BSI stated "This is in line with what has been mandated by the Indonesian government which has issued PMK No. 11 of 2016 that work units including educational work units in universities are allowed to open two accounts, one of which is Syariah. The signed MoU is a tangible form of support from Universitas Sriwijaya on how to increase syariah financial inclusion in Indonesia. BSI is grateful for the support towards the syariah banking industry through synergies with Unsri which is expected to provide the best syariah banking services for the entire Unsri academic community."
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Taufiq Marwa, SE. M.Si as the Vice Rector for General, Personnel and Finance Affairs of Unsri expressed his gratitude to BSI for choosing Unsri to be its partner. Furthermore, Prof. Taufiq said that Unsri welcomed the collaboration with BSI. According to him, this is an alternative for the Unsri academic community because there is an option other than conventional which is in the form of syariah service. This has been long awaited, especially some Universitas Sriwijaya students who also come from Aceh Province and demand about the availability of university syariah accounts.
On the signing ceremony, Unsri and BSI conducted the scholarship giving symbolisation. BSI Scholarship is given to eight Unsri students. The scholarship covers the tuition fee and living allowance.
