MoU Signing between Sriwijaya University and Khon Kaen University, Thailand

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Sriwijaya University and Khon Kaen University, Thailand, has been signed, on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Meeting Room of Sriwijaya University Graduate School.

Prof. Dr. Badia Perizade as Rector of Sriwijaya University and Prof. Dr. Peerasit Kamnuansilpa as Dean of College of Local Administration (COLA), Khon Kaen University, agreed that two universities will set up new cooperation in scientific areas, such as student and lecturer exchanges, and research collaborations, et cetera. Dr. A. Muslim, Vice Rector for Planning and Cooperation, was apparent to accompany Prof. Perizade.

Delegates of COLA were of Prof. Dr. Supawanatakorn Wongthanavasu as Director of The Center of Decentralization Development of Khon Kaen University, Dr. Hirofumi Ando (Asian Urban Information Center of Kobe, Japan), and Ms. Ayla Pino-Calumpang (International Office Staff).

This MoU signing is an initiative of two lecturers of Faculty of Social and Political Science who visited COLA in November 2012. They were Dr. Andy Alfatih and Dr. Andris Leonardo.

In this occassion Ms. Dyah Hapsari as Dean of Faculty of Social and Political Science is asked by Prof. Kamnuansilpa that Sriwijaya University will be host for an International Conference on Local Administration and Government in 2014. A plan to establish an International Association on Local Administration is indubitable.

Dr.-phil. Arinafril presented Sriwijaya University at a Glance and short overview about Office of International Affairs activities in managing foreign student and lecturer academic stay at Sriwijaya University. He elaborated on his hope to have strong cooperation with COLA in short future.
