UPSI Visit to Sriwijaya University

On Tuesday, January 22, 2013, Faculty of Teaching and Education Science (FKIP) of Sriwijaya University welcomed delegates of Faculty of Human Sciences of Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI), Tanjong Malim, Perak Darul Ridzuan, Malaysia. Dr. Ahmad Zainuddin bin Husin as Deputy Dean for Academic and Student Development headed delegates of 5 university lecturers and 25 students of Moral Education Department. Two of five lecturers participated in this visit were Prof. Chang Lee Hoon, and Dr. Ratu Mutialela Caropeboka.

Faculty of Human Science is one of the eight faculties in the UPSI. Faculty has a sound teaching tradition in the fields of Geography, History, Moral Education, Islamic Education and Malaysian Studies.

Prof.  Mulyadi Eko Purnomo, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of FKIP, acknowledged this visit and gave speech on his faculty profile. Dr.-phil. Arinafril from Sriwijaya University Office of International Affairs (OIA) represented Rector of Sriwijaya University who could not take part in this occassion. Dr.-phil. Arinafril gave short overview of Sriwijaya University and activities of his office in managing inbound students and lecturers or researchers, and outbound as well.

Dr. Zainuddin offered Sriwijaya University students and lecturers to have short term stay for academic purposes, e.g. student or lecturer exchange program for 1 semester, at his faculty. Course of Malay is also effered for Indonesian students who are pursuing PhD at UPSI. On discussion session Dr.-phil. Arinafril also offered student and lecturer of UPSI to have academic stay at Sriwijaya University.

OIA hopes that this visit will strenghthen the relationships between Sriwijaya University and UPSI.
