About OIA

Introduction

Sriwijaya University Office of International Affairs (OIA) has been established in March 2010 to coordinate international activities and collaborative efforts on campus and around the world through programming, services, and development. OIA provides leadership for international initiatives and strategies, and coordinates development and utilization of resources to expand and maximize internationalization efforts. OIA works with faculty and staff members, and students in the areas of international programs and international services. OIA office provides tasks for international initiatives and strategies, and coordinates development and utilization of resources to expand and maximize internationalization efforts.
 

Mission & Goals

The mission of Sriwijaya University Office of International Affairs (OIA) to lead, coordinate, and articulate international initiatives, programs and services in support of the university missions, goals and emphasis areas.

OIA is dedicated to assisting and providing students, staff and administration members centered services and is committed to foster open communication and cooperation with all university constituents in pursuit of OIA’s mission.
OIA goals are to:
 

  • Increase the number of students involved in international study, internships, service learning and research at any university around the world
  • Increase the number of international students, visiting lecturers and researchers from around the world to study, teach, and conduct researches at Sriwijaya University
  • Increase the number of staff or administration members of Sriwijaya University and any foreign universities to exchange administrative tasks and curriculum development
  • Promote diversity and international cultural awareness
  • Ensure the development of an internationally competitive and globally aware work force
  • Support international research and economic development
  • Assist international students, faculty, staff or administration members, with immigration (visa) and employment, tax requirements, and travel and health insurance information

Divisions


Sriwijaya University Office of International Affairs (OIA) has two divisions:

  1. International Program Division (IPD), IPD assists Sriwijaya University students with study abroad, works with international faculty and staff or administration members as hosts on programming and assists with curriculum development and other campus initiatives related to internationalization.
          IPD also works with Sriwijaya University faculty, staff or administration members who wish to study or conduct researches abroad, as well as to develop study or academic exchanges abroad programs, travel on behalf of the university, or develop other types of international programming, both on and off campus. IPD helps and eases in managing service passport and process, also in establishing and maintaining international exchange agreements and other international partnerships that fulfill the educational, research, economic, and public service mission of Sriwijaya University.
          IPD contributes to the internationalization of the campus by working to promote integration of international components and considerations in the curricula, and supporting other on-campus activities that facilitate intercultural and international understanding. We want to make sure that all Sriwijaya University students, as well as faculty, staff or administration members, have the opportunity to learn about the world and experience different cultures while meeting their academic, personal and professional goals.
     
  2. International Service Division (ISD), ISD assists international students, faculty, staff and administration members, with immigration (visa) and employment, tax requirements, and travel and health insurances. ISD also coordinates with other campus offices to develop programming and activities to insure Sriwijaya University visitors (international students, faculty, staff and administrations members) are fully integrated into the campus community.
          ISD works with incoming international students, scholars and faculty, as well as staff and administration members, to provide valuable information, service, and advice to meet the needs of community. As an international at Sriwijaya University, International Services will be a valuable resource for any immigration, employment, and support needs.
          ISD contribute to the facilitation of international educational exchange on the campus of Sriwijaya University by providing immigration related support services to international students and scholars as well as Sriwijaya University's international faculty and staff and those engaged in hiring international nationals.
          ISD has a goal is to make Sriwijaya University a welcoming, positive environment for our international population to help them meet their academic and research goals, while making sure personal goals are taken into consideration.
          ISD is pleased to assist the university in meeting its goals of creating a diverse environment where students and scholars, from abroad, have the opportunity to share, grow, and discover. ISD hopes that any international students, faculty, staff or administration members of our office as facilitating not only their necessary immigration, employment and tax requirements, and travel and health insurances, but also as a resource in helping to reach their goals to be.
